Having as large a following as Confucius, the sage with one leg makes the most ordinary into enlightened practitioners of the Formless Way.
Never uttering a word and never hearing anything besides the primordial sound of emptiness, this one legged sage outruns the quickest of intellects and transforms any mind into its deathless state.
Confucius, wanting to highlight the level of attainment of this sage, said the following about the subtle state of his mind.
Though heaven and earth may cease to turn altogether, his compassion towards such a sequence of events will never dry away.
Clearly seeing the source of temporality and the source of emptiness, he is the humble director of this cosmic churning ocean of mindfulness.
As a guardian of the source of being, all of the Tao moves with him.
Startled by those remarks, Confucius' companion asked of him to explain the depth of the statements that he has just uttered.
Preferring the unity of all things, he disregards the events of the day and of the state in order to completely harmonize with the equality of unity.
Enlightened by the emptiness of his own mind, the normality of being is his once again.
Just as everyone uses water to perceive their own reflection, everyone, including the masses, uses the stillness of his mind to perceive their own innate stillness.
Living out a straight and narrow life, others are automatically straightened out.
Having control over the day he dies though having perfect control over his subtle mind, the deathless state is attractive to everyone's innate ability to sense and feel the transcendence of the Tao.
As a student of the Antiquity and Obscurity of Nothingness, I, the one legged sage, am humble enough to say that I am the virtue of the nation and of all the intellectual circles.
Governing no one and nothing, my mindfulness extends to all four corners of this earth. At ease with what can and cannot be done, death cheats no one who is virtuous like me.
Receiving the laughter of many for having just one leg, my master taught me the purity of floating in realms that are the interiorization of invisibility itself.
Re-visiting Confucius day after day, the one legged sage announced that he had something greater and more valuable than a running and functioning physical body.
Surpassing the need for fame and immortality, I consider life and death to be one seamless thread tying all of life together in a bond of eternal friendship.
Though I have nothing that I can call my own and no position of authority in civil society, I am nonetheless still capable of harmonizing the presence of the Tao for everyone who is receptive to following the Way of ways.
Once handed over a vast territory to govern, I refused the king's offer for something that shall not immediately slip out of my softened hands.
Admired for nothing in particular and congratulated for spending my time on being empty, my virtue is the reward of a well-balanced life.
As fresh as spring lilies, my subtle mind outwardly reflects the moods of each changing season. Still in chaos and in emptiness, the ruffles and tides of this emotional world cannot bring me out of my sun stained contemplations.
Complete by virtue's selfless demands, I never have to scheme my way out of life or into life.
Being one legged has made me one legged. Being empty has made me empty. Being the Tao, I am the Tao.
Bowing, Confucius left this master totally bewildered, afraid that he may be highly realized or greatly insane due to the wild workings of the Tao.

Recently, just as an ecumenical gathering was commencing, a secretary rushed in shouting, "The building is on fire!" The Methodists gathered in a corner and prayed. The Baptists cried, "Where is the water?" The Quakers quietly praised God for blessings that fire brings. The Lutherans posted a notice on the door declaring that fire was evil. The Roman Catholics passed the plate to cover the damage. The Jews posted symbols on the doors hoping the fire would pass. The Congregationalists shouted, "Every man for himself." The Fundamentalists proclaimed, "It's the vengeance of God!" The Episcopalians formed a procession and marched out. The Christian Scientists concluded that the fire would burn itself out. The Presbyterians appointed a chairperson, who was to appoint a committee to look into the matter and submit a written report. The Unity Students proclaimed the fire had no power over them. Some Atheists in attendance didn't believe there was a fire.
The Secretary grabbed the fire extinguisher and put out the fire. AND The Mormons, having arrived fifteen minutes late, missed the fire completely!!!!
An atheist complained to a friend, "Christians have their special holidays, such as Christmas and Easter; and Jews celebrate their holidays, such as Passover and Yom Kippur; Muslims have their holidays. EVERY religions has its holidays. But we atheists," he said, "have no recognized national holidays. It's an unfair discrimination."
His friend replied, "Well, why don't you celebrate April first?"
Defining this “shift” in our consciousness at solstice, 2012
As I write, on November 28th, 2012 in a full moon energy, it comes to mind that there are many, many people out there that are not quite certain what is going on with them and what the energy shifting is all about. What is a shift?
First of all we need to look at how people define their lives now. The most common or average state of consciousness in a human being is one that includes the following levels of consciousness: Emotional, Intellectual, Intuitive/Will and some entry into the Soul level of Love (heart) where one conducts their lives in a moral, ethical, valued based manner with an adoration or devotion to the “God of their Heart”. I think you would agree that most people live close to this definition..give or take. However…what you don’t see included in this statement or definition is reference to “how” they use each of these levels of consciousness and just how they may be reflecting on just what their own definition of existence is, where they came from, why they were born, and what their Soul purpose really is.
A human being of average intelligence, health and well being, still does not make for an “enlightened” person. It is not until one begins to question their existence and seek out the true origin or nature of their existence, can it be said that one is in pursuit of a Spiritual or Divine experience with a Inner Power or presence of a Great Universal contact.
We have lived many, many hundreds and thousands of years on earth striving to survive and to live what is considered to be a decent life with some decent habits, social developments, business trades and creative expressions while striving to maintain some form of harmony and peace. It is true that this has not always been an easy task…thus life has been called “very hard” by many people. We struggle with money, family issues, relationships, failing business, poor business practices, harsh environments, and so on. With all our efforts focused on survival, one has often little time to devote to true reflection and the pursuit of a spiritual life which would include a complete understanding of just where one is at in time cycles relative to the massive movement of planets, solar systems and other stars; never mind a whole Galaxy !
All of this is starting to change in the human race as “time” marches on. There is an energy “stirring” in the masses going on and a growing desire by people to know a little bit more each day, about just who they are and how they can have a greater sense of personal empowerment in their lives, rather than a subservient feeling of being dictated to by the select few. People are fed up with the control of the leaders, powers of corporations, and those who have no respect for environments, personal living space and a decline in nurturing attitude towards his or her fellowmen. People are starting to change. There is a movement or “shift” underway.
Why? Well all those levels of consciousness previously described above, make up what is known as your own personal electro-magnetic field or aura. You have an aura and so does the earth, the sun, other suns and so on. You are sensitive to the changes of thoughts, emotions and impulses from outside forces in life from other human beings and environments..just as the earth and our solar system is sensitive to intelligence from other suns, constellations and any other energies that transmit waves of energy towards it due to proximity and the size of their respective auras. Each of the celestial bodies have their own unique signature just like you have your own distinct personality. When you are emanating your personality to another person..you impact upon them. When another solar system or constellation emanates it’s particular personality traits upon our sun or earth..it is changing it…thus changing us…as we are standing upon and within these large E-M fields.
Our solar system is currently changing from the influences of the Piscean Astrological sign Age to the Aquarian astrological sign Age, thus there are new “traits” being emitted and impacting upon the E-M field of our solar system and us. So we are subject to changes in cycles and new perceptions. (It’s like sitting with perhaps a naturalist/artist for 2,000 years and learning from him and then switching and sitting with an Einstein-type genius for 2000 years and learning ..you are going to change and grow !)
Well get ready..we are being exposed to new impulses and qualities from other sun systems and the constellation Aquarius…not to mention our entire galaxy is also receiving impulses and changing experiences that we get to be a part of as well. (more on that next time)
So you are SHIFTING consciousness… ahh !!! So very good…we can look forward to new perceptions…but we first must make sure that we do not get stuck in all our old ones..refusing to change….and close ourselves off….hhhmm…so that means we must be “transforming” from our old ways of living and seeing life to some rather spectacular new ways of looking at it.. !! This is certain…change is inevitable..just how these changes are made will depend upon how the masses receive the changes and how you as an individual receive them. Food for thought….insights for your reflections.

Ori and Rom Brafman describe in their book 'Sway' an experiment in which students are given a placebo with the promise that it would boost their mental power. Indeed, students who got this 'wonder drug' at a healthy price performed better in a test than a control group without this drug. A funny twist in the experiment was that when the same students got the placebo with the information that it is available at a steeply discounted price, they performed worse - even worse than the initial control group. The only explanation of this finding is therefore that 'reality' is pretty much an outcome of your own expectation about it.
Have you ever observed for yourself the difference between trust and doubt? Have you observed when you are starting to lose trust in your own ability or in other people's abilities, and just as this suspicion is creeping in, things tend to go from bad to worse? When we trust instead, we feel firm and strong; we experience apparently infinite power. Yet when we worry, our power base is eroding in front of our astonished eyes.
It seems very obvious that it is much better to trust if you can. You probably have heard Jesus' promise in Matthew 17:20: 'Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you can say to this mountain move from here to there and it will move. Nothing is impossible for you.' But these are empty words if you don't believe them. The question is, can you consciously upgrade yourself from a worrier to a believer? Run an experiment and see for yourself if you can succeed. If the outcome is good, you will have more confidence to do it again and again until you feel like that your life is blessed and your heart is always full of gratitude.
When you doubt, your ego is at work; you literally attack yourself. When you want things, your ego is at work too. It is both the same energy only worries are inward directed while desires are out-ward directed. Desires and doubts are the endless oscillations of the ego. You want something, you beat yourself up over the fact that you want it - often in the name of spirituality - and after that you doubt that it is in your power to get it anyway, and even if you could get it, you then fear that others will not allow you to get it, and on and on you go on this not-so-merry-ego-go-around. In contrast, when you trust, there is no ego involvement at all.
People who trust are blessed. People who trust know who they are and have no desire to prove themselves any more. People who trust see that everything that comes their way is a gift of the Tao. You do not have any goals anymore because you trust that if you just follow the flow, everything is easy and, in a weird way, everything is perfect as is. But please don't take our word for it, you have to try this out for yourself. Experiment with this concept and see whether this experiment of positive thinking works for you.
Have you even experienced that when you trust someone, you actually bring out the best in her. Because of your trust, she starts believing in herself and a positive cycle is about to start. The same is true along the Tao. When you trust in the Tao, you basically bring out the best in you and you have the energy and power to deal with every situation that comes your way. It is you who gives the power to yourself, to the people you are dealing with and you give a spiritual meaning to every situation at hand. You trust that you have the power to heal every situation that comes your way; you have the trust that all the people you interact with are your soul siblings who help you on this mission; and you have the trust that every situation that comes your way helps you along this healing course, helps you propelling yourself on the journey home to our Source.
The Tao is here to show you that everything you have is all that you really want. The Tao is here to show you the true worth of your soul siblings, and the Tao is here to show you that you can rejoice - you already are Home here and now. But don't just trust us on this - discover this positive cycle for yourself. The Tao is waiting for you with open arms.

Perfect and smiling, is this man in the moon, suspended on clouds he can make lovers swoon,
with wisdom he watches us down from above, with a smirk and a smile he shines light on our love,
this jolly old lantern that hangs in the sky, at times seems so close, that we feel we can fly, like the pull of a great magnet, he changes the tides, he even tickles our mood, then his magic subsides,
every once in a while, Mother Earth plays with his light, as she dances a shadow across the moon's flight, she will briefly hide that magical glow, and tonight we will witness that magical show.

She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go. She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgements. She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her. She let go of all the right reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go. She didn’t ask anyone for advice. She didn’t read a book on how to let go. She didn’t search scriptures. She just let go. She let go of all the memories that held her back. She let go of all the anxiety that kept her from moving forward. She let go of the planning, and all of the calculations about how to do it just right. She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it. She didn’t write the projected date in her Dayplanner. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the newspaper. She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go. She didn’t analyze whether she should let go. She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn’t call the prayer line. She didn’t utter one word. She just let go. No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations. No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go. There was no effort, no struggle. It wasn’t good, wasn’t bad. It was what it was and is just that. Getting Spiritual Guidance From Within During Meditation -- Becoming A Follower of the Inner Light, by 'Abdu'l-Baha' of the Bahai Faith (from a talk given at the Friend's Meeting House [Quaker Meeting House], Saint Martin's Lane, London, Sunday, January 12th, 1913)
About one thousand years ago a society was formed in Persia called the Society of the Friends, who gathered together for silent communion with the Almighty.
They divided Divine philosophy into two parts: one kind is that of which the knowledge can be acquired through lectures and study in schools and colleges. The second kind of philosophy was that of the Illuminati, or followers of the Inner Light. The schools of this philosophy were held in silence. Meditating, and turning their faces to the Source of Light, from that central Light the Mysteries of the Kingdom were reflected in the hearts of these people. All the Divine problems were solved by this power of illumination.
This Society of Friends increased greatly in Persia, and up to the present time their societies exist. Many books and epistles were written by their leaders. When they assemble in their meeting-house they sit silently and contemplate; their leader opens with a certain proposition, and says to the assembly 'You must meditate on this problem'. Then, freeing their minds from everything else, they sit and reflect, and before long the answer is revealed to them. Many abstruse divine questions are solved by this illumination. (+P174)
Some of the great questions unfolding from the rays of the Sun of Reality upon the mind of man are: the problem of the reality of the spirit of man; of the birth of the spirit; of its birth from this world into the world of God; the question of the inner life of the spirit and of its fate after its ascension from the body.
They also meditate upon the scientific questions of the day, and these are likewise solved.
These people, who are called 'Followers of the Inner Light', attain to a superlative degree of power, and are entirely freed from blind dogmas and imitations. Men rely on the statements of these people: by themselves -- within themselves -- they solve all Mysteries.
If they find a solution with the assistance of the Inner Light, they accept it, and afterwards they declare it: otherwise they would consider it a matter of blind imitation. They go so far as to reflect upon the essential nature of the Divinity, of the Divine revelation, of the manifestation of the Deity in this world. All the divine and scientific questions are solved by them through the power of the spirit.
Bahá'u'lláh says there is a sign (from God) in every phenomenon: the sign of the intellect is contemplation and the sign of contemplation is silence, because it is impossible for a man to do two things at one time -- he cannot both speak and meditate.
It is an axiomatic fact that while you meditate you are speaking with your own spirit. In that state of mind you put certain questions to your spirit and the spirit answers: the Light breaks forth and the reality is revealed. (+P175)
You cannot apply the name 'man' to any being void of this faculty of meditation; without it he would be a mere animal, lower than the beasts.
Through the faculty of meditation man attains to eternal life; through it he receives the breath of the Holy Spirit -- the bestowal of the Spirit is given in reflection and meditation.
The spirit of man is itself informed and strengthened during meditation; through it affairs of which man knew nothing are unfolded before his view. Through it he receives Divine inspiration, through it he receives heavenly food.
Meditation is the key for opening the doors of Mysteries. In that state man abstracts himself: in that state man withdraws himself from all outside objects; in that subjective mood he is immersed in the ocean of spiritual life and can unfold the secrets of things-in-themselves. To illustrate this, think of man as endowed with two kinds of sight; when the power of insight is being used the outward power of vision does not see.
This faculty of meditation frees man from the animal nature, discerns the reality of things, puts man in touch with God.
This faculty brings forth from the invisible plane the sciences and arts. Through the meditative faculty inventions are made possible, colossal undertakings are carried out; through it governments can run smoothly. Through this faculty man enters into the very Kingdom of God.
Nevertheless some thoughts are useless to man; they are like waves moving in the sea without result. But (+P176) if the faculty of meditation is bathed in the Inner Light and characterized with divine attributes, the results will be confirmed.
The meditative faculty is akin to the mirror; if you put it before earthly objects it will reflect them. Therefore if the spirit of man is contemplating earthly subjects he will be informed of these.
But if you turn the mirror of your spirits heavenwards, the heavenly constellations and the rays of the Sun of Reality will be reflected in your hearts, and the virtues of the Kingdom will be obtained.
Therefore let us keep this faculty rightly directed -- turning it to the heavenly Sun and not to earthly objects -- so that we may discover the secrets of the Kingdom, and comprehend the allegories of the Bible and the Mysteries of the spirit.
May we indeed become mirrors reflecting the heavenly realities, and may we become so pure as to reflect the stars of heaven.
