Grain on bark tanned leather hunter pouch or possibles bag made from deer harvested 2 years back. I made vegetable tanned leather from that deer hide which is now an axe mask and this pouch among other things. The deer's hoof serves as a button to hold the pouch closed. Main purpose: to carry lack powder rifle hunting gear. My old storebought black powder pouch wore out, so I had a need and used what was locally available to remedy the situation. Similar to what folks call a haversack, except it's about 1/3 to 1/2 the depth of a typical haversack and is used to hold hunting supplies rather than food and utility items. Around here it's called a possibles bag, because you store items in it that you may possibly need when out in the woods hunting and trapping. I'll use this pouch, a bark tanned belt pouch, and the buckskin tinder pouch for bushcraft outings, foraging, hiking, deer and squirrel hunting. How I made the possibles bag: one piece of grain on leather 12"" x 18". I used a leather punch and regular sewing needle along with Spiderwire fishing line to sew it up, inside out, 6" on two sides, which left a 6" flap to close it up and run a deer hoof button through. I sewed around the button hole with the Speedy stitcher awl and used two scrap pieces of bark tan leather for belt loops, sewed them on with the speedy stitcher as well. Demonstration showing how to use the speedy stitcher to sew a brain tanned buckskin tinder pouch for my possibles bag. I also threw in a few tips for dealing with some issues that might come up when using the Speedy Stitcher, In my other Speedy Stitcher demonstration video www.youtube.com I used a vice to hold the work in place and pre-punched the holes in some traditional vegetable tanned leather I made to sew an ax mask for my Michigan pattern double bit axe. In this stitching demo we're not using a vice or punch in order to simulate how the speedy stitcher might be used in the field for emergency repairs. I'm not going to have a vice or stitching PONY in the field when my tent rips open from the hurricane force wind, or my favorite backpack blows out all over the trail. And, since the speedy stitcher fits easily into a pack or ditty bag it's a good idea to know how to use it in the field without special tools, that way I'll be prepared when the time comes. The stitching awl of the speedy stitcher is extremely sharp and pokes right through canvas tent material, burlap bags, denim jeans, 1000 Denier Cordura, pack straps, leather boots, brain tanned buckskin, and bark tanned leather, I find it a very useful item to throw in my kit. UFO Sightings Over Cotulla, Texas This Week Real UFOS Caught On Tape Today In Eagle Ford. January, 2013 Eagle Ford is a hot spot for oil, but in the past few weeks it has turned into the mother ship for UFO sightings. It seems Cotulla, Texas has become ground zero for UFOs in the past few weeks—if recent YouTube postings can be believed. Several videos have been posted on YouTube showing different sightings in the Cotulla area. One UFO video was posted two days ago. The Mutual UFO Network is a national organization that investigates UFO sightings. MUFON says they have been getting a lot of calls from South Texas. The group says they can solve 80 to 90 percent of the cases they follow. It's the other 10 percent that they get excited about. "Probably the fireballs— we're not real sure what those are," said MUFON investigator John Cross. "We think they switched over to jet-powered drones." MUFON says California, Texas and Detroit are the hot spots for sightings right now. They say the videos out of Cotulla this past week can be easily solved. "It really doesn't display any unusual flight patterns of any kind, and as you watch the video towards the end you can clearly see all three of the beacons on the aircraft," Cross said. 20130126- On Wings Of Care Flyover #3 of the Bayou Corne Sinkhole in Louisiana. Five weeks after our last update of December 24 on the Bayou Corne sinkhole, we are finding that things actually look a bit worse. The water levels seems higher, and the work efforts appears to have subsided. Equipment has been removed, and the homes to the west and northwest of the sinkhole look seriously unpopulated.
